Categorizing poetry is akin to categorizing people. Few fit nicely into one category; fewer still into only one. Then there are those that don't seem to fit any category at all. Accounting for individual interpretation almost requires a unique category for each poem.

The subjects below represent the best I could come up with, without including a hundred different categories. With the subjects being somewhat conceptual in nature, many poems deal with, and are therefore included in, multiple categories. It should also be noted that life and love are rather ubiquitous motifs that appear in many of the poems on this site.
